Bi-monthly the Ark supports a different charity through a variety of different methods.

May - June 2017, Charity - nras

Throughout May and June we are raising money for ‘nras’  National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, which co-insides with their awareness week in June!

To raise money we are hosting :

Birthday Raffle  

Prize is a mini birthday party for 5 children, including

  • Reserved table for 90 minutes
  • 5 children’s party meal deals
  • Unlimited Squash
  • Birthday Card

Draw date is Friday the 30th June, to enter simply find your birthday on our display calendar this will become your raffle ticket, please see t&c.

March & April 2016 – Maggie’s   We raised £52.60 by holding a guess how many sweets are in the tub.

February 2017 The Sick Children’s Trust  We raised £125 by holding a pirck a lolly win a prize

January 2017Reach  We raised £65 through holding a unwanted Christmas gift tombola

Dec 2016 – Food Bank We collected donations and gave to the bank in Blaydon.

Nov 2016 – Help For Homeless women –  We collect handbags with that the local Methodist Church handed out to local homeless women

Oct 2016 Samaritan’s Purse UK – We collected Shoeboxes packed with gifts for poverty stricken children world wide.

Sept 2016  Macmillan –   We raised a total of £115.59 by running a Nazareth trust Bake Off.

Aug 2016- Sunshine Fund –   We raised a total of £75 by running a book sale.

July 2016- Marine Conservation Society We raised £75 by selling mystery bags, guess the name of the turtle, and a tombolla.

June 2016 – Scotswood Natural Community Garden –  We sold jam, chutneys & plants to raise £75

May 2016  – Mid Tyne Lions –  We had a collection for glasses.

April 2016 Caring Hands– We raised £45 having a pick a flower, win a a prize

March 2016 – Dementia Care   We raised £134.1 for Easter chicks and make your own cards kits.

February 2016 Toby Hendersons Trust  We raised £43.82 by holding a Bodyshop pick a prize

January 2016De Paul  We raised £111.25 through selling a selection of Jewelry

Dec 2015 – Daft as a Brush  We raised a total of £73.63 from our ‘Pick a Prize’ from our glittery christmas tree stall.

Nov 2015 – The British Lung Foundation We raised £80.27 by selling a range of Christmas cards and gifts.

Oct 2015 Operation Christmas Child  – We collected Shoeboxes packed with gifts for poverty stricken children world wide.

Sept 2015 Macmillan –   We raised a total of £72.66 by selling hand made crafts and donating 10% of tea/coffee sales to Macmillan on their famous coffee morning on the 25th!

Aug 2015- Red Squirrels Northern England (RSNE) –   We raised a total of £60 through hosting, ‘Guess the name of the bunny,’ and selling hand made cards.

July 2015- The Peoples Kitchen  We collected a hamper of food and toiletries to donate to the Peoples Kitchen.

June 2015 – RNIB –  We recycled a bundle of used stamps and ink catridges to raise money for the RNIB.

May 2015  – Smile for life –  We raised £20.09 by hosting a flower themed quiz and selling DIY cress heads, ready for spring!

April 2015  Charlie Cookson Foundation– Donation TBC

March 2015 Josie’s Dragonfly Trust.   We raised £83.52 from selling home made mothers day, easter gifts and Josie Badges.

February 2015 Marie Curie.  We raised £62.75 through a tea party themed pick a prize, selling cards and delicious sweets.  We also hosted a clothing collection this month.

January 2015Pancreatic Cancer Action.  We raised £40.22 through selling a selection of quality home made cards.

December 14North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund.  We invited children to choose an icicle from our festive winter tree to win a prize. We raised £88!

November 14Operation Christmas Child. We collected 25 Shoe boxes packed with gifts and toys for children in poverty.

October 14:  Maternity World Wide. We hosted weekly Knit and Natter sessions where participants knitted baby vests and blankets to be be sent out to developing countries. 2 large boxes were sent out, along with a donation of £26.50 

September 14: National Autistic Society. Pick a Parcel was a huge success, raising a whopping £90!

August 14:  Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue Trust. We collected a large box of cat food, a donation of £17 and we even bagged a pet carrier for the hedgehogs.

July 14:  St Oswald’s Hospice – Guess the name of the Dog with a lovely hamper prize raised over £30 for this cause.

June 14: Unique – We invited customers to take part in a summer themed quiz to win afternoon tea at the Ark. £40 raised!
