The Ark is closing

For the past 7 years the Ark has been an place of welcome and hospitality for the community, acting as a church, soft play centre and café in the village of Crawcrook. As a church it has provided a different kind of place for people to explore questions of life and faith and the worship of God. The Ark has served the community in practical ways and provided a safe space where families have shared in celebrations and children have played and had fun.

It is with great sadness that we announce that this social enterprise is having to come to an end. The financial situation means that the not-for-profit business which has operated within the Ark needs to close as the business is no longer viable in the present economic environment. The decision has been made that the Ark will cease to trade on 3rd April 2020.

From Tuesday 3rd March a phased closure will begin and weekday opening times for general admissions will be Tuesday – Friday 10am-2pm. Food will still be served, but hot items will vary depending on stock availability.

Existing party bookings and arrangements will be fulfilled, and any class times will remain unchanged until the full closure date of 3rd April 2020.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email ark@crawcrook.org.uk or call on 0191 413 1339.

Isla absolutely loves Messy Play. We’ve been coming since she was really little (great way to introduce her to new textures) and now she’s nearly 2! I love that there is a new theme every week and so much effort and thought goes into it. The staff are really enthusiastic too!

SNAP (Special Needs Accessible Play) is a wonderful, friendly setting for those of us with children with special needs. It is a great opportunity for your child, with special needs, and their siblings to enjoy some ‘non-judgement’ time on the play frame whilst you enjoy a cuppa and a chat with other parents/carers, sharing experience and making new friends

Messy Play is our favorite group of the week! Charlie absolutely loves Thursdays. Great value for money and a really well thought through group with a different theme each week.

“I loved taking my 5 month old son to the Ark – he enjoyed the colours, lights and toys in the sensory room which was circus themed on that particular day.  I can’t wait until he is old enough for the play frame!
We had a delicious lunch in the conservatory served by the warm and welcoming staff.  We look forward to our next visit.”

“Imogen’s Christening party was a wonderful event celebrated by family and friends in the sight of God.  Many thanks for making it such a memorable and special event we will treasure forever.”
